Here it is. Our Future Farmstead...we hope.
A year of traipsing through mud and thistle, land and farm websites and countless cups of freshly brewed coffee reveals that all good things come to he who waits.
Somehow this beautiful piece of land had everything on our wishlist:
(in no particular order)
-Water (at least 1 viable stream/spring)
-Elevation (2,000+ feet above sea level)
-View (long-range, picturesque preferred)
-Viable Acreage (at least 15 acres, 80%+ of which is usable)
-Proximity to unique small town
-Proximity to family (within driving distance of both sides of parents)
-Terrain (mixture of hardwoods, timber, pastures, meadows and rock outcroppings)
-Security (not easily seen from main road or neighbors)
-Comfort (a sense of peace and quiet while standing anywhere on the property)
-Price (We are young...and poor. We can't break the bank on just the land. We still need to build a house.)
Just 25 minutes from the bustling college town of Boone, this 35-acre (or so) plot seems to be the perfect place to set up an organic, sustainable, family farmstead.
Now we just need to get a loan...
